Owning a business here isn't just about profit. It's about presence. What you build becomes part of the city's story—its rhythm, its reputation, its future.

Business Ownership Basics

🛠️ To Qualify:

  • •You must have at least 2 weeks of active in-city RP before applying (This is waived during server launch, so early applications are encouraged)
  • •You must demonstrate consistent presence, RP effort, and intent to build a functioning team

🧱 Expectations of Ownership:

  • •Your business must be open at least 3 to 4 days per week, with a minimum of 2 hours per open day. This includes walk-in hours, services, casual RP, or events. Your business should be part of the living rhythm of the city.
  • •You are not expected to run it alone. Untold Stories pays your staff wages. That means your goal is to hire, schedule, and scale your business. The more you are open, the more you grow.
  • •A strong business runs across multiple time zones. When you build a team that covers the day, the whole server thrives, and so do you.

You are also responsible for:

  • • A clear staff roster, posted visibly
  • • Updated menus or services, pinned or shared
  • • Logging major RP events or transactions, via Trello, Sheets, or Discord

⚠️ Warning:

Abuse of permissions, such as infinite payouts, item loops, or exploit use, will result in:

  • • Immediate closure
  • • Possible character investigation
  • • Staff-level OOC action

Performance Bonuses

If your business goes beyond expectations, you will be rewarded.

Businesses that:

  • • Open more than 4 days per week
  • • Maintain semi-round-the-clock coverage
  • • Host creative or community-centered events
  • • Keep up logs and meaningful RP output

May receive:

  • • Extra payouts or bonus cash
  • • Temporary tax relief
  • • Feature spots on social media or city channels
  • • Access to business upgrades, such as signage, stash space, or décor
  • • Partial event funding or support

These bonuses are earned through effort, visibility, and contribution. Bring your business to life, and it won't go unnoticed.

Inactivity & License Review

  • •If inactive for 2 weeks without notice, your business may be flagged for review
  • •At 4 weeks inactive, your license may be revoked and the property reissued
  • •Leave of Absence (LOA) can be requested via 📥┃need-support with IC or OOC reasoning

Weekly Taxes

To maintain a stable and immersive economy, every business is expected to contribute:

  • •Taxes are due weekly, scaled based on your size, RP footprint, and business type
  • •Payments are made in-character to a Finance RP Officer (office hours in 🕐┃office-times)
  • •All tax payments must be logged using a Google Sheet, Trello card, or pinned Discord message

📉 Missed Payments:

  • First Miss = Grace period and warning
  • Second Miss = Temporary license freeze (3 days)
  • Third Miss = Business license revoked and possible IC consequences (audit, fines, repossession)

Business Application & Interview

Your business doesn't start with a form—it starts with a pitch.

You will schedule an in-character appointment through the courthouse NPC or via 📥┃need-support. Your character will present your proposal to a review panel—this could be government officials, funders, or shadowy backers, depending on the tone of your concept.

📋 What You'll Need:

  • • Business name and concept summary
  • • What it brings to Easton (RP value, culture, services)
  • • Staffing plan and daily coverage strategy
  • • Menu or service list (maximum of 10 total items: food, drink, or services)
  • • Sample pricing
  • • Desired property or MLO (note: some may require a donation)
  • • Optional visuals (logos, menus, flyers, moodboards)
  • • Pay and tax handling plan
  • • Required permits, licenses, or security needs (alcohol, guards, private areas)

Review & Probation

Applications are reviewed every 2 weeks.

✅ If approved:

  • • You will enter a 2-week probationary period
  • • Staff will monitor your RP quality, activity, staff engagement, and logs

❌ If denied:

  • • You will receive feedback
  • • You may reapply after 2 weeks, provided meaningful adjustments have been made
